Fender limited-edition Raw Ash American Performer Stratocaster and Telecaster!
Fender has just announced a limited run of new American Performer Strats and Teles, with satin-finished solid ash bodies, Yosemite pickups and Greasebucket circuits. These stripped back guitars come in what they are calling Raw Ash finishes.
Raw Ash
These two models are both built in the USA built and come in a fetching satin-finished sold ash bodied look.
Greasebucket
They all feature the company’s Yosemite pickups and the rather handy Greasebucket circuit onboard. This clever little tone circuit allows you to cut treble, Fender says, without loss of gain or clarity. If you are the type of guitarist that just plugs in and turns every control onto 10, then you probably won’t appreciate what these models have to offer. However, these guitars are great for players that like to fiddle with a guitar’s onboard controls to dial in their tones.
Raw Ash American Performer
Both the Stratocaster and Telecaster models have a satin-finished solid ash body, with a modern “C” shaped maple neck that has a 22-fret, 9.5-inch radius maple fingerboard. Both use ClassicGear tuners. With the Telecaster you have a thru-body Fender six-saddle Tele bridge, while the Stratocaster uses a classic Fender six-point ‘synchronized tremolo’, as you would expect.
Fender states clearly that these are a limited editions, yet we have no indication as to how many guitars are being built and for how long they will be available. The raw ash finish certainly has a certain look to it that I think will appeal to a lot of players and if you get one with a nice grain pattern then it could be a real stunner.
