Steinberg has announced the UR24C USB-C audio interface. The newest member of the UR-C series offers two inputs with microphone preamps, four outputs and MIDI In/Out. With additional RCA outputs, it’s tailored to DJ applications as well as recording.

The new Steinberg UR24C takes the spot between the UR22C and UR44C. Like the other UR-C series interfaces, it features a USB-C connection (USB 3.1) and offers a maximum resolution of 192 kHz / 32 bit.
The UR24C is equipped with two analogue inputs and two Class-A D-PRE microphone preamps with phantom power. The inputs are on XLR-1/4″ combo jacks and can also take line signals; input 1 offers a Hi-Z switch for electric guitar. The UR24C’s output channels are spread out across two TRS jacks, one headphone output and four RCA connectors. The latter make it easy to connect to DJ gear. There are two switchable monitor modes for DAW work and DJing, which change the function of the headphone output. In DJ mode, the mono master sound is played back through the right channel of the headphones, while the mono cue signal is on the left. In addition, the UR24C offers MIDI in and out.

The interface is compatible with Windows, Mac and iOS devices. Like all Steinberg audio interfaces, it comes with a software package. Besides Cubase AI and Cubasis LE for iPad, this includes the REV-X reverb, Channel Strip and Guitar Amp Classics plug-ins, as well as the dspMixFx editor application for Windows, macOS and iOS.
Price and availability
According to Steinberg, the UR24C audio interface will be available “in the first quarter of this year”. That means that it should hit the shops by the end of March. The suggested retail price is EUR 249, excluding VAT.
