Roland TR-8 update arrives with Drumatix TR-606 sounds!
Also new is a linked mode for hihat sounds, as well as a few squashed bugs

The long wait is finally over: owners of the much-loved Roland TR-8 Rhythm Performer can download the update to version 1.20. For users of the optional 7X7 expansion, it additionally includes an emulation of the legendary TR-606 Drumatix.
And so here it is! The update for Roland’s TR-8 drum machine. On top of some bug fixes, there’s also a new hi-hat link mode that lets you alter the parameters for the CHH and OHH at the same time, for both the TR-808 and the new TR-606 model.
So, reasons to rejoice for all TR-7X7 users: the optional sound expansion featuring TR-707 and TR-727 sounds just got more tempting. Published today, the update introduces all TR-606 sounds, indicated by the step buttons backlit in white in sound assign mode. All this is extending a package that was initially seen as being somewhat pricey on its release. Thumbs up! With the addition of the new model, they will be increasing the price however from next month onwards – details below.
Free update for existing users
The update to version 1.20 is free to download from the Roland website for all TR-8 owners. If you already own the TR-7X7 extension, you get the TR-606 for nowt. Everyone else will have to cough up EUR 100 for the sound expansion upgrade from July 8th, 2016. Until then, Roland offer the upgrade at the old, lower price of EUR 75 as part of their introductory campaign. The update to version 1.2 went very smoothly when we applied it, by the way. So get over there and download now!
