Cascade Pedals’ Hosstortion is based on the rare Ibanez MT-10 Mostortion
Cascade Pedals’ new Hosstortion effect is a Mosfet distortion inspired by the rare, sought-after Ibanez MT-10 Mostortion pedal.
Ibanez MT-10 Mostortion reborn
The original Ibanez MT-10 Mostortion pedal was only produced between 1990 and 1993 and has since become very desirable among session players and collectors alike. It’s a CMOS op-amp based distortion with a great tone. So it was a pleasant surprise to find that Cascade Pedals is releasing a new interpretation of that circuit.

In recent years technology for the creation of BiMOS chips has moved forwards considerably. These chips combine two formerly separate semiconductor technologies into a single integrated circuit. This forms the basis of Cascade Pedals’ new Hosstortion pedal.
Level and Dirt knobs allow you to dial in the distortion. Then a versatile three-band EQ allows you to sculpt that tone further. This should be a relatively simple pedal to dial in, but it gives enough flexibility to make it widely useful.
Sour Apple
This modern day recreation also has pedal board friendly top-mounted jacks. The foot switch quality is “premium”, Cascade says. The UV printed art graphics on the Sour Apple green-sparkle powder-coated case stand out. It’s an appealing homage to the original green Ibanez pedals.
