The new MD 24 Select Series are Dean Guitars’ latest affordable shredders
Dean Guitars just added two new 24 fret models to its 2020 Select Series. The new MD 24 guitars are available with either a hardtail or a Floyd Rose locking trem system, and are designed for fast and easy playing.
Dean Guitars MD 24 Select
With the new Dean MD 24 Select models, you get a choice of either a hardtail, or a Floyd Rose locking trem system. Both versions have a set of black Grover tuners and matching black hardware throughout. Each iteration gets a pair of direct-mounted Seymour Duncan zebra humbuckers, with an APH-1N in the neck position and a TB-5/SH-5 in the bridge. The new models are available in two finishes, Flame Top Trans Cherry or Classic White.
Construction
The MD 24 has a basswood body with a bolt-on C-shaped three-piece maple neck, an ebony fretboard and 24 jumbo frets. The neck joint has a deep bout, allowing for better upper fret access, making it ideal for lead playing and accessing the dusty end of the fretboard.
Budget Shredder
The construction method and wood choices are all proven setups for high gain players. And since, in my opinion, the models don’t have many standout features, they may be perfect for players looking for a blank canvas to put their own personal stamp on. I’m certain these guitars will be popular if they play well, so definitely worth a look.
