Behringer has started work on “one of the most exciting synthesizer projects”
Behringer has posted a picture of some old circuit board with the announcement that they have started work on an “exciting synthesizer” – can you guess what it is?
It’s a CS-80 voice card!
I tried to turn this into a guessing game but one google image search on the assumption that it might be CS-80 related and here we are – it’s a voice card from classic Yamaha CS-80 synthesizer. Behringer has talked a lot about tackling this synthesizer and we’ve even seen a few mock-ups of the look in development. That’s why it was top of my list of searches.
And Behringer is right, it is a very exciting synthesizer project. Along with the excited comments are about an equal number of people asking where their <insert-Behringer-synth-here> is. Behringer has apologised for the length of lead times on their synth development and asked for our patience because of, oh you know, unprecedented times. But they do insist on throwing fuel onto the fire with these glimpses of what’s coming some time after all those other synths are eventually coming.
If Behringer do a good job on their DS-80 and along with the long-awaited UB-Xa they could finally win the whole synthesizer game. I only hope I can get my Deckard’s Dream finished before it arrives.
