Behringer's RD-6, a TR-606 clone, available now in a kaleidoscope of colours

Behringer revealed their RD-6 analog drum machine at NAMM with 8 sounds, individual outputs, 64 steps of sequencing and a bit fat distortion. Now it’s available to pre-order in a panoply of colours.

The RD-6 is a clone of the Roland TR-606 Drumatix and the perfect companion to their TD-3 Bassline. It comes with 8 classic analog drum sounds including bass drum, snare, open/closed hi-hat, low/high tom and cymbal plus a clap from the DR-110 drum machine (although the Behringer website says it’s a BR-110 and their Facebook page calls it the DS-110 so I’m not convinced they are exactly sure where it came from).

The 64 step sequencer can instantly switch between 32 patterns and chain songs up to 256 bars in length. The distortion circuit is modelled after the Boss DS-1 guitar pedal and lends it some real grit. And they’ve added individual outputs for each sound and made it all MIDI/USB friendly.

The colours are brilliant, everything from the expected silver through the acid yellow to fruity translucent purples and reds – they’ve definitely gone to town on this and are apparently based on the 90s Apple iMac colours just for fun.
