Keeley The Dark Side shoots for Pink Floyd in a box
David Gilmour in a box?
Keeley have launched their new The Dark Side effect pedal at Summer NAMM. This looks to be following in the footsteps of their Monterey pedal from a few months back, which also aimed to give users a signature guitar sound or two crammed into one medium-sized pedal.
Dark Side of the Moon
It looks like Robert Keeley has managed to squeeze a lot of life into one little guitar effect pedal. David Gilmour’s legendary guitar tones are chased by many players. You only have to check out websites like gilmourish.com to see the cult following the guitarist has spawned with his epic guitar solo tones.
So what do you get in this little dark box? It would appear you get Delay and Plate Reverb or Rotary Speaker Cab plus a Uni-Vibe with Octave Up or Down. Then on top of all that you get classic IC (Integrated Circuit) Big Muff Pi fuzz pedal with a three way EQ at the front end.
Time
At the time of writing, there are no specifications available on the Keeley website. However, Premier Guitar have put out a video where the pedal is briefly demo’d along with the new The Hall, Hooke Reverb and El Monte and Bubble Tron pedals.
Money
It looks like Keeley have been very busy this year and hopefully this new ‘Gilmour in a box’ pedal will do the great man justice. If they can capture his tones in one box then it is likely to save many players a lot of money, as chasing David Gilmour’s guitar sound can get very expensive indeed. I love the idea as I grew up on listening to Pink Floyd and would be very happy to cop some of those solo tones myself. Here’s hoping that it hits the UK shores soon, so I can go try one out in the flesh!
RRP TBC though speculated to be around $299
