The much anticipated ARP 2600 clone from Behringer is in production and tantalizingly close to being a synthesizer reality that we can all share our opinions on.

Behringer’s clone of the ARP 2600 synthesizer was first revealed in January. In a video fronted by synthesizer designer Rob Keeble of AMSynths we were treated to an interesting take on the form of the classic synth. The functionality was all there but in a design much more like the Odyssey but with a lot more going on. It appears to be rack-mountable and is full of light from the colourful array of LEDs.

Of all the projects that Behringer are currently undertaking this one might be the one that will turn the head of the serious synthesist. Cheap clones of cool monosynths are one thing but taking on the legacy and admiration of the ARP 2600 is something else entirely.

They did hope to have a production model ready in time for Superbooth last May but as the show didn’t happen this is the first news we’ve had on the 2600 since the reveal and a walkthrough video a couple of weeks later. The Facebook post just gives us a couple of images of 2600s being put together. No news on delivery date or pricing.
