Old Blood Noise Endeavors Black Fountain V3 + Tap Tempo: Oil Can Delay with new features
The new updated Old Blood Noise Endeavors Black Fountain V3 + Tap Tempo is a digital recreation of an oil can delay. The original Black Fountain pedal was a huge success and is what put this boutique company on the pedal-market map. Version V3 takes the popular effect and adds tap tempo to it.
Old Blood Noise Endeavors Black Fountain V3 + Tap Tempo
Old Blood Noise Endeavors was launched back in 2014 with this very pedal and now, six years later, the latest Black Fountain V3 + Tap Tempo has just arrived. So what does the new version add to this classic pedal? The original Black Fountain was designed to capture the sound of vintage oil can delay units and this new version updates it with a tap tempo. Two taps of the footswitch activates the tap tempo, and can also subdivide the tempo into quarter, eighth, or triplet notes.
The V3 version has an expanded delay time compared to the original units and will now go way down to around 30ms or up to around 1s of delay time. You can also use an external expression pedal to control the Time and Feedback parameters, or both simultaneously.
Hidden Function
If you hold the Tap footswitch down for a bit, it will maximise the feedback leading to an almost sound-on-sound effect. Players that like to get experimental with their delays are likely to appreciate this neat little feature.
Modern, Organ and Vintage modes
The three modes labelled Modern, Organ, and Vintage give three different delay voices. You can then use the Fluid, Mix, Time, and Feedback knobs to tweak the various elements of each delay mode.
New features and limited edition
All in all, this is a sweet update to the company’s first ever pedal. I’m certain these new features and tap tempo function will make this already great sounding oil can-style delay pedal even better. For those of you that enjoy limited edition models, there is also a limited coloured version available for a short time from the blackbobbin.com site.
The standard price is only $209. Considering the old version was $199, this is a really decent upgrade for just 10 bucks! You can check out an overview of the new Old Blood Noise Endeavors Black Fountain V3 + Tap Tempo pedal in the official demo video below and as ever, it’s all a bit left field and strange, but in a good way.
RRP – USD 209
