Pocket Operator Capcom arcade series: Street Fighter sampler and Mega Man synth
Teenage Engineering has released two arcade infused Pocket Operators as part of an official Capcom series. Street Fighter is a sequencer and microsampler whereas Mega Man a synthesizer and sequencer. Ready Player One?
PO-133 Street Fighter
It’s the real deal. 16 tracks of Street Fighter sounds sampled from the original arcade game. It features 8 melodic and 8 percussive tracks and 15 punch-in effects for some on-the-fly beat-em-up action. It’s also a sampler with a built-in microphone and up to 40 seconds of sampling time for you to stick in your own slaps, squeaks and kung-fu noises – hadouken!
PO-128 Mega Man
Oh yes, it’s chiptune-tastic with an 8-bit synthesizer engine for making crazy melodies and arcade toons. You get 15 melody sounds and a micro-drum sound and it comes ready filled with Mega Man presets. It has a 3-track sequencer and the ability to chain up to 128 patterns.

They are terrifically fun and exactly what they are supposed to be. They have appropriate graphics thrown all over the screens to keep you in that arcade-inspired creative space. For £85 each and out on December the 2nd these are ideal stocking fillers (!) for the synth nut in your family.
