ESP Pyrograph Series

Using pyrography, the art of applying a design using heat, this new ESP Pyrograph Series really stands out from the crowd. Especially as the designs are extremely intricate and crammed with loads of details. Each guitar is hand-crafted by artist Dumitru “Dino” Muradian and will be limited to only 10 of each. I can see why, as the designs look super complex and must take ages to complete.

The Pyrograph Series comprises of the M-I FR-DLX Skulls & Crows, the M-II Hardtail Great Wave, and the TE-II Hardtail Snake Skin models. With each guitar you are getting a top-class instrument, which is further amped up a level with these stunning, hand-made designs. All the guitars are made in ESP’s North Hollywood, California shop and feature a body-matched pyrograph headstock design and a mirrored ESP logo. Each instrument will also come with a signed certificate of authenticity.

ESP USA M-I FR-DLX Skulls & Crows

The ESP USA M-I FR-DLX Skulls & Crows, pictured above, is constructed using a mahogany body and flamed maple top. The bolt-on neck is quarter-sawn maple, with a 24-fret ebony fingerboard and deluxe mother-of-pearl offset inlays. It has a single Seymour Duncan ’59 Custom Hybrid humbucker in the bridge position, which is controlled via a volume knob with push-pull coil split. You also have a Floyd Rose locking tremolo system and it will be. Should be a lot of fun to play.

ESP M-II HARDTAIL Great Wave

Next up, the M-II HARDTAIL Great Wave, as the name suggests, is a hardtail design, though the rest of the guitar uses the same construction methods and materials as the M-I FR-DLX Skulls & Crows. It features The Great Wave off Kanagawa, a famous woodblock print by Japanese artist Hokusai, and I think it looks really well done. This time you have a Seymour Duncan Sentient humbucker in the neck position and a Pegasus in the bridge position. Hardware consists of a Hipshot fixed bridge, and a set of Sperzel Trim-Lok tuners.

Finally, we have the TE-II Hardtail Snake Skin. This T-style guitar has a mahogany body with a quilted maple top. to which the extremely detailed snakeskin design is then applied to. This model has a set of Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special humbuckers and also uses a Hipshot fixed bridge, with a set of Sperzel Trim-Lok tuners.

I think all three guitars look amazing. It’s also not surprising that only 10 of each will be available, as it must take forever to do this finish and make it look good for each one. Whether you like the images or not, you have to be impressed by the skill and artistry required to make these types of unique graphics, especially on a guitar body.
