NAMM 2021: Korg Gadget VR – Ready Player One?
Korg has released a preview video of the forthcoming Gadget VR which takes their cool iOS synths and beatboxes into the virtual realm. Grab a helmet and let’s go!

Actually, all we have is the line “Create music using virtual reality” and a 2-minute video of disembodied hands floating in a world of virtual synths. It looks completely bewildering but also, potentially, a lot of fun.

I don’t know how prevalent VR googles are these days but there are already some cool attempts out there to turn the current VR technology into an immersive music production experience. Tranzient is already out there on Steam offering interaction with Ableton Live, SynthVR is looking great and recently SynthSpace was very impressive.
Gadget as a collection of over 40 different synths and drum machines that are designed for fun and ease of use is perhaps ideally placed to find itself in virtual reality. It’s not going to require anything too fiddly to start making music.
We’ve got no other details on what you need or how to get it but we’ll update you as soon as we know.

One response to “NAMM 2021: Korg Gadget VR – Ready Player One?”
I think Korg is one of the most perfect companies to take this step , and nothing is more suited for this than Gadget. I was still hoping for some more durable more comprehensive hardware controllers though, I love my nanokeystudio but it could have better drum pads, and way better knobs and more tactile keys, perhaps 37 key and a 16 step seq, with 8 drum pads and 8 knobs with 4 or more banks…
