The new Ampeg SVT-VR Classic plug-in is designed to be a lighter version of the developer’s full SVT-VR emulation. It focuses on the essentials by stripping away the first channel, leaving only channel 2. Plugin Alliance says that this gives you “stunning simplicity and ease of use”.
Despite being a stripped-down version, SVT-VR Classic uses the same Brainworx IR technology as the full SVT-VR plug-in. You get a single channel with ultra-hi and ultra-lo modes, as well as volume, treble and bass controls. That should make it easy to dial in powerful bass sounds very quickly.

Also included is an FX rack with a noise gate, a couple of filters, Power Soak saturation and a horn on/off function for the cabinets. There’s an input gain control for perfect gain staging. According to Plugin Alliance, the plug-in also offers three boutique recording chains from Brainworx.
