Old Blood Noise Endeavors has given its widely respected Alpha Haunt Fuzz a huge makeover and a new layout for 2021, bringing the pedal into a more compact format and streamlining the workflow.

While the new version retains the tone circuit of the original version, the refreshed Alpha Haunt has a more compact form factor and some new artwork. And although it’s subtle, OBNE has refreshed the layout in a way that makes it all a bit more intuitive. With a switchable fuzz range, plus bias and tone controls and a three-band slider EQ, this pedal has more or less the same functionality, just in a more user-friendly layout compared to the original version.
Streamlined
I like the new streamlined layout a lot. In the video below Dan explains that the basic function of the bias control on Alpha Haunt V1 has been condensed into a simpler toggle switch. But you still have variable control over the fuzz gain, compression and overall tone of the pedal. Plus, it has a switchable fuzz distortion range and a low pass filter, so there is lots to play with.

New Clothes
The Alpha Haunt Fuzz pedal uses soft-touch relay bypass switching and can run from an external 9-Volt DC negative-centre power supply. Overall, it is a pretty nice update to a great pedal and I think the layout makes a lot more sense.
