Native Instruments and iZotope join forces in a new alliance
Native Instruments and iZotope are joining forces in a new technology group. The two companies will continue to operate independently, but share knowledge and technology in order to enhance their product offerings and “shape the future of music making”, according to the press release.
Native Instruments and iZotope join forces
It’s only been a few weeks since the news broke that technology investor Francisco Partners had acquired majority ownership of Native Instruments and announced an “end-to-end user-centric platform for the music creation industry”. The Berlin-based software and hardware maker has been restructuring for a while, following reports about layoffs. Now the new owners seem to be moving forward with their plans for getting NI back on track, and they’ve got iZotope on board, as well.
Under the newly formed group, which will be backed by Francisco Partners and EMH Partners, the two companies will continue to operate independently, without structural changes to either firm. Mark Ethier, co-founder and CEO of iZotope, and Constantin Koehncke, CEO of Native Instruments, will become co-presidents of the group and work together to shape the new alliance. As the new investors had said a few weeks ago, the goal is to create “a seamless creative experience”. Here’s what Mark Ethier has to say:
“iZotope and Native Instruments share the same mission to inspire and enable creativity. We both look to make it easier for engineers, producers and musicians to realize their creative vision, and together, we will be able to break down barriers that have stood in the way of that goal for decades. With iZotope’s intelligent processing, and Native Instrument’s innovative offerings, I can’t wait to see what artists will create.”
Constantin Koehncke adds:
“As more and more people are getting into music making they are looking for easy access to the building blocks for their journey. Joining forces with iZotope brings us yet another step closer to fulfilling our shared mission to empower producers of all levels with everything they need – from instruments and effects, to a supportive and thriving community. I cannot begin to imagine what our combined talent and technology can come up with to inspire artists and music creators worldwide.”
While they haven’t said what kinds of products they plan to develop together, I think that this new alliance is exciting news. Both Native Instruments and iZotope bring many innovative products and technologies to the table. We’ll have to wait and see what they come up with, but in the meantime, it’s good to see NI getting back on track.
