Steinberg intros WaveLab Cast for podcasting and social media content creation
Steinberg has announced WaveLab Cast, a new version of WaveLab specifically designed for podcast production. The user interface and effects are optimized for quick editing and mixing of speech recordings. WaveLab Cast also lets you add sound to videos and even broadcast live streams, so it’s useful for all kinds of social media audio production. And it’s quite affordable.
Steinberg WaveLab Cast
WaveLab Cast is a stripped-down version of Steinberg’s long-running WaveLab audio editing software. Its feature set has been optimized for podcasting and social media post production. The user interface is designed to provide an intuitive and fast workflow for editing, mixing and finalizing your speech recordings, field recordings and background tracks. While it lacks some of the features of the full version of WaveLab, the new WaveLab Cast is a simple and quick solution for creating podcasts and social media audio and video content.
The software offers audio recording, editing and publishing, as well as some basic video capabilities. You can record audio in the software or import tracks from a portable recorder, mixer or other device. For editing, WaveLab Cast offers a selection of tools from the full version of WaveLab, including the removal of background noise or hum with a single click, ducking, arranging, and adding music or other background tracks. The inspector channel strip lets you add effects like EQ, voice exciter and compressor. You can also stream live or upload your content directly to a variety of podcast directoriesand platforms, including Spreaker, Podbean and Soundcloud.
All in all, Steinberg WaveLab Cast looks like a great solution for podcasters and content creators who don’t need the complex editing capabilities of the full version of WaveLab. At an affordable price, it has all the essential features for creating and cleaning up speech recordings and producing interesting audio tracks with the addition of background music or sound effects, and even provides options for direct publishing.
Price and compatibility
Steinberg WaveLab Cast is now available for €69.99. If you own WaveLab LE 7–10, you can get an upgrade for €19.99. Until March 31, 2021, Steinberg is offering a 20% discount.
The software requires Windows 10 or higher (64 bit) or macOS Catalina or Big Sur.
