Swissonic NT10A and T204: affordable nearfield monitors for your studio
Swissonic has launched the NT10A and T204 active monitor speakers. While the NT10A takes clues from the most famous studio speaker of all time, the T204 features a bi-amped dual woofer design with passive radiators on the sides. That’s two affordable new options for your studio!
Swissonic NT10A
No studio is complete without a set of boxy speakers with bright white woofer cones, and the new Swissonic NT10A makes it quite obvious where the designers looked for inspiration. The Yamaha NS-10M still has a lot of fans, and if you’re one of them, you’ve now got another option for a speaker that looks just like them. Unlike the original and Avantone’s CLA-10, however, the NT10A is an active, bi-amped design.

The NT10A features a 7” woofer and a 1.25” ‘natural silk’ tweeter. They’re driven by two amp modules with 50 and 30 watts, respectively. The crossover frequency is 2 kHz. Swissonic states a frequency response of 50–20000 Hz.
The rear panel offers a low cut filter at 56, 80 or 100 Hz, LF and HF trim switches (-2/0/+2 dB) and a variable mid EQ. In addition to balanced XLR and TRS inputs at +4 dBu, there’s an unbalanced RCA input. The speakers come with removable fabric covers.

Swissonic T204
The Swissonic T204 is a bi-amped studio monitor with a dual woofer design. In addition to the two 4” woofers and the 1.25” silk dome tweeter, it features two 5.25” passive radiators on the sides. While the similarities aren’t as obvious as with the NT10A, this makes me think that the designers may have taken a glance at the Focal Shape Twin for inspiration.

The T204 is powered by Class D amp modules with 50 watts for the lows and 30 watts for the highs. The frequency response is 50–20000 Hz, with a crossover frequency of 2.2 kHz.
The acoustic tuning buttons on the back include an LF cutoff at 40, 50 or 60 Hz, and LF, MF and HF trim switches (-2/0/+2 dB). Like the NT10A, the T204 offers balanced XLR and 1/4” inputs and an unbalanced RCA connector.
