The Austrian manufacturer is now offering the LCT 140 AIR small diaphragm condenser microphone in matched stereo pairs. At just €279 per pair, that sounds like a great deal for anyone looking for a great-sounding stereo recording solution that won’t break the bank.
Lewitt LCT 140 AIR Stereo Pair
When the Lewitt LCT 140 AIR came out in 2019, it turned a lot of heads thanks to its budget-friendly price. The small-diaphragm condenser microphone features a 17 mm capsule with a cardioid polar pattern. According to Lewitt, it feels right at home on acoustic guitar, drums, strings, choir, piano and even ukulele.
Besides the switchable low cut filter and 12 dB PAD, the sound switch is what sets the LCT 140 AIR apart. You can choose a flat, linear setting or activate ‘Air mode’ for an airy sound with a high frequency boost.
Small diaphragm condensers are a popular choice for stereo configurations, so it makes perfect sense that Lewitt has decided to offer the LCT 140 AIR in matched pairs. And they’ve managed to reduce the price even further: the matched pair retails for just €279, while a single microphone costs you around €149.
Lewitt says that each pair consists of two perfectly matched LCT 140 AIRs. They claim that their matching process is one of the most precise in the industry. The measuring system controls the polarization voltage of the capsule to adjust the sensitivity, while analyzing each microphone’s frequency response. They feed this data into an algorithm, which compares the frequency response and sensitivity of each microphone and decides which pairs go well together. It’s a match!
Just like the single microphone, the matched pairs come with an accessory kit, which contains two microphone clips, two pop filters and a carrying case.
