Wampler’s new Andy Wood Gearbox Signature Overdrive pedal combines two popular drives into one dual pedal, incorporating the Tumnus and Pinnacle circuits. It’s designed for Andy Wood, a country shred supremo, to deliver a sweet-sounding yet versatile overdrive pedal.

Mr Wampler has designed the Andy Wood Gearbox Signature Overdrive with two separate channels. One is based on the Klon-style boutique transparent overdrive of the ’90s, while the other is inspired by the Marshall Plexi-style Brown Sound.

Stacking Gain
Each channel has its own independent volume and gain controls, but you can also stack them together. Usefully, the pedal has a switch to determine which circuit comes first in the chain. Both sets of inputs and outputs can be connected to an external switcher to mix or match in parallel or series, so this box has a lot of flexibility. Sounds like fun to experiment with.
Twin Channel
Channel 1 is based on the Wampler Tumnus and can be stacked with other pedals to help shape the total amount of gain. It can also be used, of course, as a standalone overdrive or even a slightly dirty boost to elevate your solos. Channel 2 is based on the Wampler Pinnacle and gives you a Brown Sound tone. This side has a three-band EQ for tone sculpting, as well as a built-in noise gate to tame the hiss from all that gain.
This pedal houses two great drive tones in one unit, and could be very useful for players that need more flexibility for their overdrive tones. Plus, it is a lot cheaper and easier to transport than a Klon and a Marshall amp head! I’m a fan of Wampler pedals and this new signature model looks like good value for money. With two popular drive circuits combined into one pedal, this could be a big seller.
