Novation has been a bit cagey about their new Circuit Rhythm due out in the summer but more details have appeared on a Dutch webstore – let’s dig in.
Circuit Rhythm
We already knew it was a sampling machine for beatmakers with hands-on controls, effects and performance features. Just looking at it you can probably guess what it’s all about but Novation hasn’t offered up anything but a short description. However, ToneControl in the Netherlands seems to have all the info.
The main features include the ability to sample, resample, edit and shape directly on the hardware. You can slice, reverse, loop and play samples in drum or melodic styles. There are 8 tracks of sampling with their own 32-step patterns and chains up to 256 steps. It has probability and mutate functions in the sequencer and lots and lots of effects. Projects can be saved to a microSD card, it can be battery powered and connects via USB-C.
On the back you have a stereo audio input for sampling, stereo output and headphone output. MIDI In/Out/Thru and a sync output.
The 32 RGB backlit pads are velocity-sensitive and there are 28 RGB backlit tactile buttons and 8 endless encoders with RGB indicators. That leaves you with a dedicated volume knob and a filter cutoff knob.
The only thing that’s missing is a video of it working. The exact release date and price are yet to be announced.
