The SSL UC1 Controller now controls all your 3rd-party plugins
Solid State Logic has announced a significant update to the UC1 controller and SSL 360° at NAMM 2024! Previously, the controller was limited to controlling SSL’s own channel strip plugins, giving you a console-like workflow in a DAW-based studio. With the free SSL 360° Link plugin, the SSL UC1 can now control any 3rd-party plugin. Talk about a revolution!
When SSL announced the UC1 controller back in 2021, it was a purpose-built control surface for SSL’s own channel strip and bus compressor plugins. The idea was to throw an SSL channel strip on every track for a console-like workflow in your DAW, especially in combination with the UF8 and UF1 controllers.
UC1 Controller now controls all your 3rd-party plugins
The list of things you can do with your SSL UC1 has just become a whole lot longer! At NAMM 2024, SSL announced the new SSL 360° Link plugin that allows you to map any 3rd-party plugin to the UC1. Any plugins mapped via SSL 360° Link become visible in the SSL 360° plugin mixer. The plugin comes with a number of ready-made mappings for SSL channel strip plugins from Slate Digital, Harrison Audio, Universal Audio, Waves, and Brainworx. But it’s not limited to SSL channel strips: According to the developer, you can quickly map any VST3 plugin to the controls of the UC1 using a mapping tool.
The SSL 360° Link plugin is free and will be available in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX Native formats, SSL says. The UC1 is available at Thomann*.

Being a true SSL product, the UC1 boasts high-quality components: studio-grade encoders, switches, feedback LEDs, and an authentic moving coil Bus Compressor gain reduction meter, delivering a genuine console ‘centre section’ experience. It offers knob-per-function control of the SSL Native Channel Strip 2 and Bus Compressor 2 plug-ins, continuously displaying which plug-in is in use, and the value of the control currently engaged.
The UC1 is complemented by the new SSL 360° Plug-in Mixer application for Windows and macOS, allowing users to create their own virtual SSL console that works in unison with the hardware. This application provides instant access to both current and future SSL-designed Channel Strip and Bus Compressor plug-ins in a single window environment.
Ready to use right out of the box, the UC1 ships with full licenses for the SSL Native Channel Strip 2 and Bus Compressor 2 plug-ins. The Channel Strip 2 is a fully-featured SSL Channel Strip, based on the digital modeling of EQ and Dynamics curves from the XL 9000 K SuperAnalogue console. Version 2 adds SSL’s proprietary anti-cramping algorithms and the ability to externally trigger the dynamics sidechain. The Bus Compressor 2 expands on the familiar features with additional Ratio, Attack, and Release options, external sidechain triggering, and oversampling from x2 to x4.
