Build your own Hyve Synthesizer at a synth building workshop
There’s a healthy DIY community of synth builders out there who think nothing of soldering together a bunch of modules into something interesting. Most of us wouldn’t have a clue where to start. Why not sign up for a synth building workshop and take home your own self-built Hyve synthesizer.
Hyve Synthesizer
The synth building workshop is the brain child of Skot Weidmann, the inventor of the Hyve Synthesizer. You may have seen the remarkable little synth on YouTube (below). He describes it as a “touch synthesizer”. You can play the keys and slide your fingers all over the place in order to create and manipulate sound.
On the 24th September Skot will be running a DIY Synth Workshop at Lost Arts in Chicago. Yeah, I know, that’s a crushing disappointment to everyone who’s not in easy reach of the windy city. But, if there’s enough interest then maybe he’ll move farther afield or even franchise it out to other people in other countries.
It’s a brilliant idea and I would love to take part. Considering that you leave with your own Hyve synthesizer then the $70 charge for the 3 hour workshop seems like a bargain to me.
