sE2200 condenser microphone

The sE2200a and sE2200aa II C are the Chinese manufacturer’s first condenser microphones, dating from around 2002. The sE2200 is an updated version of the classic design. It features the same hand-crafted capsule, discrete class-A circuitry, and a custom transformer.

With the improvements made to it, the sE2200 now offers clearer recordings with lower noise, as well as new pad and filtering options for more recording options. sE also brought the microphone’s fit and finish to its latest manufacturing standards so the classic microphone looks and feels the best it ever has. Despite these changes, the sE2200 retains the sound and character of the original models it’s based on.

The sE2200’s ancestors remain well-regarded in the audio industry, being present on big-name records by the likes of the late Amy Winehouse. Despite that, the updated microphone retains a very modest price tag, making it an easy buy for anyone interested in expanding their mic arsenal or getting their first condenser.

More Information

sE V7 X

While the sE V7 is a vocal microphone, the V7 X is an instrumental mic with a specialized capsule that features an aluminium voice coil and new acoustic design suited towards instrument recording. sE says its engineers managed to lower the resonance and deliver an extended frequency response so that the V7 X would sound good on snares, toms, guitars (acoustic & electric), brass instruments and other sound sources.

If you are looking for an alternative of the tried and trusty Shure SM 57 for whatever it is that you are recording, consider the V7 X as a viable alternative by a reputable brand.

Price and availability

The sE2200 and V7 X are on sale in Europe and Asia, and are coming to the USA in early November. Suggested prices are USD 299 / EUR 289 for the sE2200 and 129 USD / 119 EUR for the V7 X. Both microphones ship with various accessories. The sE2200 comes with a shock mount, adjustable pop filter, and mic stand thread adapter. The V7 X includes a mic clip, zipper pouch, a spare black windscreen, and a thread adapter.
