This new Ampeg SVT Suite is the first time the company has done its own in-house software suite. It encompasses all the classic Ampeg heads, cabs and effects you could ever need for your DAW.

We have seen loads of third-part emulations and collaborations in the past, now finally Ampeg has designed its very own software plug-in. The new Ampeg SVT Suite includes practically everything you need, apart from a DAW, audio interface, lead and a bass guitar!

Heritage 50th Anniversary

You get models of the Heritage SVT-CL*, a Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT* and SVT-4PRO*, plus a selection of classic cabs, along with the ability to blend in your own IRs and use two cabinets at once. You can also mix and match virtual microphones with cabinets, setting the mic distance and position where you want it, to get your tones. It is pretty easy to do using the Dual Cab/Dual IR Mode, so you can set up different models with microphones and even adjust the phase.

Virtual Effects

I like that it also includes a set of virtual Ampeg effects pedals; Scrambler, Opto Comp, Liquifier, Phasifier and Rocktaver, so you have all your core bass effects in the package as well. This means you can build virtual rigs for your DAW all day long, and via MIDI control you can automate all the parameters within your setup too. Then there’s the virtual integrated tube-powered DI box to help get your signal where you want it in your DAW and a handy plugin noise gate to keep things nice and quiet.

Adjust the amp to taste

You can set the basic amp setting like Bias, to set whether your amp is running its virtual tubes hot or cold, and the Response and Hum. So all the minutia of how you would set up a real bass amp head is there to play with, perfect for tweakers and tinkerers.

The Ampeg SVT Suite comes with 50 presets to get you going and you can use these to build and tweak, or just start from scratch and make your own bass rigs.

I have a couple of their Universal Audio plugins, wish I had known this was coming now as it seems more comprehensive and less impeded by the DSP in my interface.
