Rather than being aimed at professional studios exclusively, the 1073SPX-D has been designed with recording, content creation, and live sound workflows in mind. Now without requiring additional gear, you can record directly into your laptop from a 1073 mic preamp.

If you’re unfamiliar with Neve preamps, these are the bee’s knees. For years, they’ve been a must-have gold standard in pro studios worldwide. As the industry’s demands are shifting, AMS Neve has moved with the times and the 1073SPX-D is a prime example of this.
In addition to the legendary analogue circuitry of the 1073, the 1073SPX-D has high-end 24-bit 192 kHz conversion, making it a flexible recording tool. Besides the class-compliant USB audio interface, you also have ADAT I/O and a word clock out.
This makes it possible to use the 1073SPX-D as an expansion preamp on your current ADAT interface. Furthermore, you can expand the channel input count with multichannel preamps like the 1073OPX.
In theory, combining a high-end mono channel strip and a stereo audio interface might sound a bit outlandish. However, Neve understands the user’s demands well enough to ensure that the 1073SPX-D fits into a wide range of professional recording and live workflows.
With flexible DAW and direct monitoring options, a high-end headphone preamp, ADAT to USB, and DIGI I/O, the 1073SPX-D has many ways to incorporate the 1073 into your recording or mixing workflow.

Hmm. Making a 1073DPX into an interface makes a lot more sense to me. A great front and back end in that setup. Albeit at a cost.
