Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) 2024 is just around the corner in mid-October. As well as a beautiful city, there will be plenty for electronic music producers and live performers to see and hear at the countless night and day parties and workshops in Amsterdam. During these days, the entire city will be transformed into a huge exhibition centre for hardware and software, but also into one big university for those who want to learn more about the music scene. So pack your bags and plan your itinerary for five days in the electronic music jungle!

Amsterdam Dance Event 2024

From 16 to 20 October, this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event 2024 (short: ADE) will take over the canals of the Dutch city of Amsterdam with more than 2,500 artists, 600 eloquent speakers, over 1,000 events in more than 200 venues and a staggering 500,000 visitors. Once again, music producers, live performers, DJs, organisers, managers, booking agents and fans of the electronic music scene will meet, dance, discuss, attend a meeting, breakfast, lunch, workshops or panel discussions. During these days, the business of electronic music really does flourish in the Dutch metropolis.

An event for everyone

During the day, you can get the inside scoop on the music business at a number of venues around the city. These venues will bring together music and event professionals with newcomers for a day of networking and live discussions. Here you can ask the moderators, your peers and all the other participants your questions, your problems and your new ideas about the music business. This is highly recommended for everyone in the biz! The Andaz Amsterdam (Hyatt Hotel) is the new hotspot for networking and business meetings. This year, talks on social media platforms TikTok, Spotify, YouTube, Beatport and TuneCore, as well as artificial intelligence in the media sector, are sure to be of particular interest.

At night (or in the early hours of the morning), head to one of the many spectacular party locations. Either in disused industrial buildings or on one of the many boats, VIPs, well-known DJs and newcomers will play their DJ sets and, of course, live for you. Unfortunately, the big venues are so far apart that you will need to budget extra money for taxis (or Uber). Unless you want to use the very well developed cycle paths and your bike. Attention: Fares are not included in the ticket (not even for public transport). And that can be quite expensive in Amsterdam.

ADE Lab

The ‘Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond’ is a highlight for gear nerds, live performers and music producers. Workshops by renowned specialists, musicians and audio freaks from the scene are held here continuously over five days. The range is so wide that you are sure to find something you like. Warning: G.A.S. alert! The pros will show you what buttons to press, what hardware they personally use and how a song is produced and mixed. There will also be a small ‘Superbooth‘ with hardware and software manufacturers such as Ableton, Roland, Bitwig, Allen & Heath, Technics, AlphaTheta/Pioneer DJ and more. This will certainly make the technology heart beat a little faster!

Have you suddenly decided to go to Amsterdam after all? Then I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you, because free hotels and guest rooms are few and far between, or only available at exorbitant prices. This year, the price of the city has risen immensely in every respect. But for music lovers of electro, dance, techno, trap and house (of course there are many more genres at ADE!), it will certainly be a breathtaking and interesting few days. Maybe I’ll see you there?
