Apogee Vintage / Modern FX Bundle on sale at 40% off
The Apogee Vintage / Modern FX bundle is now on sale for EUR 299, down from EUR 499. The offer is valid until May 31, 2022. That’s a very good price for the bundle which includes all 5 Apogee FX plugins: Pultec EQP-1A, Pultec MEQ-5, Opto 3-A, ModEQ 6 and ModComp. The plug-ins work natively in any DAW but Apogee hardware owners benefit from DualPath monitoring and the ability to run them on Apogee’s Element Series, Ensemble Thunderbolt, and Symphony Desktop audio interfaces.

Looking at the individual plug-ins, the Pultec EQP-1A is an emulation of the venerable tube equalizer from the 50s. It’s famous for its simultaneous Boost/Cut controls which allow for fine frequency balance. It also has that great tube amplifier stage that really sweetens up audio, even if you don’t make any EQ adjustments.
Likewise, the MEQ-5 Midrange Equalizer applies the same line of thinking to mid-range frequencies. The two Pultecs are emblematic vintage EQs for a reason and the Apogee emulations are oficially licensed to boot.
The Opto-3A Optical Compressor/Limiter models the opto cell-driven reactive compression of vintage Teletronix limiters. Compared to similar emulations, this one offers additional HF Contour and High-Pass parameters alongside Dry/FX blend control. It’s a solid take on well-known hardware.
The ModEQ 6 is a workhorse parametric EQ with 6 bands (peak/shelf or peak/notch), Lo Pass, and Hi-Pass. It also has Proportional and Constant Q modes, band solo, and pre/post spectrum visualizer.
ModComp is a compressor in the same modern style with 3 user-selectable modes (Punch, Easy, and Level), a 2-band sidechain EQ, and spectrum visualizer.
