The Arturia Tape J37 brings the magic of the famous Studer tape machine into your DAW, with a range of controls to craft your sound.

The legendary J37 was the first multitrack tape machine ever produced by the renowned Swiss audio manufacturer, Studer in 1964.

These 1-inch 4-track tube tape machines were immediately adopted at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London and a few years later, Sir George Martin used a pair of them to create the seminal Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album with The Beatles.

Arturia’s new plug-in has been carefully modelled from a J37 at the esteemed Studio Barclay in Paris. As the J37 circuitry used over 200 vacuum tubes in its design, the Tape J37 plug-in aims to capture the rich harmonics, warmth, and compression imparted onto the sound.

Because colouration is a defining aspect of the sound, Arturia allows you to choose between four different tape colour modes including warm, driven, dirty, and pristine. Meanwhile, a Modern Mode function provides a cleaner sound with the same level of saturation.

In addition, Arturia has included tape interaction features, with a play/stop function that perfectly recreates the classic tape slow-down effect, as well as two tape speeds for a choice of a brighter higher fidelity sound or a warmer, darker one.

Another interesting inclusion is the stereo offset control. Here, Arturia has simulated the slight discrepancies between the left and right channels on the J37, allowing you to widen and add depth to your mix.
