Audeze Mobius 3D headphones to come with Waves Nx plug-ins
Audeze announced that it’s implementing Waves Nx 3D audio technology in Mobius, its 3D audio headphones. The set’s built-in 360-degree head tracking and native support for Nx enables the headphones to interact with the Waves Nx Virtual Mix Room and B360 Ambisonics Encoder plug-ins. They are designed for VR / 360 / 3D mixing and monitoring in Ambisonics formats and immersive 3D headphone monitoring of Stereo and Surround content.
The Mobius headphones will be sold standalone, or in a “Creators Edition” package that features the Waves Nx Virtual Mix Room and B360 Ambisonics Encoder plug-ins. The head tracking, sound localization, and virtual room emulation are very interesting bits of technology which stand at the forefront of professional 3D and VR audio.
The Mobius headphones are engineered for durability and comfort and come equipped with Audeze planar magnetic drivers. They work over USB-C, USB-A, analog 3.5mm and Bluetooth. They also support real-time Stereo, 5.1, and 7.1 audio. Battery life is rated at over 10 hours.
Overall, the Mobius is a very interesting product for both audio professionals and consumers. The nascent VR technology and the evolution of 3D audio will let us have sonic experiences beyond what’s currently out there. These headphones seem like an important milestone towards that.
