Avid introduces the Pro Tools MTRX II high-end modular interface
Avid has announced the Pro Tools MTRX II at NAMM 2023, along with a Thunderbolt 3 module for the MTRX series interfaces. The MTRX II is the new center of your Pro Tools | HDX setup, with eight card slots for digital I/O and the same range of modular options as the MTRX Studio.
The Avid Pro Tools MTRX II
Built in collaboration with DAD, the MTRX II provides 64 inputs and outputs via DigiLink, 256 Dante, and 64 MADI channels. The new Thunderbolt 3 module expands the I/O to 256 native channels and the interface itself is compatible with any DAW system.
In addition, the extensive 4096 x 4096 internal routing matrix allows you to send routings between multiple DAWs simultaneously. Moreover, with HDX providing the lowest latency, Thunderbolt 3 gives you a fast stable native connection which is suitable for mobile setups.
As you can expect from Avid’s high-end conversion, the MTRX II is particularly transparent during recording or playback. An SPQ speaker processing system ensures the accuracy of monitoring calibration with 16 filters per monitor and up to 128 channels with adjustable delays and filter options.
The MTRX II is also compatible with a wide range of monitoring setups, and includes the DADman Pro monitor setup application, and a 512 x 64 mixer for Dolby Atmos.
As you can see, these are high-end features for pro users, and they come at a price, especially when Avid is concerned. Remember that the cost of the interface is just an initial expense and the configuration of modules is extra.
The MTRX II goes far beyond its function as an interface or converter and offers console-like connectivity and routing.
