Acoustic Guitar Round-up: One guitar, one bass and a mystery amp
New fretless and 5-string basses, a signature guitar and a mystery amp!
This Bank Holiday Monday we decided to bring all you acoustic lovers a little round-up of what’s new, including a sneak preview of an interesting product ‘caught in the wild’ on camera at a recent guitar show.
ESP LTD Thinline Bass Series
First up is the new ESP LTD Thinline bass series which comes in both a 5-string and fretless version. They look sumptuous and I can imagine they will play beautifully as ESP/LTD instruments are usually made to a really high standard.
The TL-4Z Fretless and the TL-5SM both look fantastic, with a very modern aesthetic with exotic tops that look great to my eye.
The TL-4Z body is built with chambered mahogany and topped with zebrawood. The fretless rosewood fingerboard is inlaid with line markers and has a three-piece mahogany 34″ scale length neck, with a thin U-shaped profile.
The 5-string TL-5SM model, on the other hand, has a spalted maple top with a matching headstock. This fretted model is fitted with 22 jumbo frets. Both basses feature Fishman Sonicore pickups matched to a Fishman TL-3 preamp with a built in tuner. Check out the official demo video below and have a listen for yourselves, I think they sound great personally.
RRP TL-4Z Fretless – USD 599 and TL-5SM – USD 629

Martin Ed Sheeran Divide Signature model
Love him or loathe him, you have to admit the boy can write a good song. This new variation on his ‘mini Martin’ has been released in conjunction with his new album and is called the Divide model, just like his album (ahh, isn’t that sweet).
This looks to be a cool little acoustic and has a custom blue rosette with a laser-engraved ‘Divide’ symbol and a black HPL headplate with the Divide album artwork. It has a sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides. The rosewood fretboard also has Divide fretboard markers to hammer home the album association! The guitar also has the Fishman Sonitone electronics which provide you with a decent amplified sound for performing via an acoustic amp.
RRP GBP 649 inc gig bag

Mystery H&K Acoustic amp?
Last but not least is a new ‘mystery’ Hughes & Kettner acoustic guitar amp that was spotted at a Guitar Show called ‘Gitarrenzauber 2017 Event’ involving Cuntz Guitars in Germany. Yes, Cuntz Guitars. You read that correctly!
This mini combo was spotted in the wild and our German sister site wrote about it earlier this week. What’s intriguing is that currently Hughes and Kettner do not make any acoustic guitar combos. Could this herald a new range this year?
There were two at the show, one in brown and the other one in black. You can just see one on stage in the bottom left hand side of the photo. In the other picture you can clearly see them both. Watch this space and I’ll let you know more as soon as we get full details, for now I’m still trying not to snigger too much about a certain guitar company’s name.
