Barefoot stack-up with monstrous proportions: Introducing the new MasterStack12
Utilising their existing flagship MiniMain12’s as tops, Barefoot have developed a matching subwoofer extending the performance. These are main monitors for medium to large studios, with some interesting technology making them stand out from the crowd. Complete with claws for toes, here are some monitors which are sure to leave a mark.
Barefoot are now serious players in the market, grabbing the attention of some of the worlds most renowned mixing and mastering professionals. This has been achieved with the obvious signs of build quality and sonics, but also via exciting new tech. We should admire companies like this for pushing the boundaries of pro audio as we share a common objective to find the ultimate listening experience. Barefoot’s trademark opposing bass drivers in their cabinets, which they call their ‘Dual-force’ technology, and their unique ‘Dual Ring Radiator’ tweeters are responsible for catching our eyes and ears.
The MasterStack12 features a total of 10 drivers with around 1800W of amplification per side. They’re describing this as a 4.5 system capable of 18Hz to 40kHz which offers “vanishingly low distortion, breathtaking dynamic range and ultra-fast transient response”. The system will also harbour their MEME Technology to simulate different monitoring setups from the same speakers.
Having worked on a pair of Barefoot MicroMain27’s, I know these are going to be big boy’s toys with an epic soundscape. I would jump at the chance to hear these. Yes there’s some interesting technology at play here, but they are clearly developing a following worth shouting about.
Price wise, the only un-official numbers I can find at the moment are over 47,000 USD for a pair. This puts them in a very serious league, right where they should be next to the likes of PMC. I suspect that even larger things are on the horizon from Barefoot based on the names they’ve chosen such as ‘MiniMain12’, leaving scope for ‘bigger and better’ from the American’s.
