Beatskillz intros Tone Empire high-end plug-in brand and Goliath Retro Channel
Beatskillz have decided to launch a new brand of high-end audio plug-ins called Tone Empire. The first horse in the new stable is called Goliath, a three-part saturation, EQ and colouration plug-in for shaping your tone with a very retro styling.
The first part, the saturation module, has three colours, Silver, Gold and Titamium, corresponding to solid state, tube and tape circuits. There’s an input/drive control and an output control – and that’s it. Below that there’s a Roof knob, which looks to be a leveller, going from -inf to 0dB.
The second half is a combination of envelope shaper and a modelled vintage EQ. The envelope part consists of a Motion control that goes from ‘Splat’ to ‘Sharp’ as well as Attack and Release knobs. That’s it. The 3-band EQ is fixed at 85Hz, 1.5kHz and 9kHz, with a low cut filter set to 50Hz.
This seems to be all about making things happen to your audio by twiddling a few knobs without having to know a huge amount about what is going on in the background. Thickening things up, adding glow, increasing apparent loudness, adding some mojo that kind of thing.
Price and compatibility
Goliath costs USD 49 at the introductory lower price until it goes back to USD 79. It supports VST, AU and AAX formats, runs on Macs and PCs.
