Beetronics Whoctahell Limited Beeast: Two Bee or Not Two Bee
Limited re-release of the first bee pedal!
The very first bee-themed pedal is coming back, but only as a “limited beeast”! The Beetronics Whoctahell comes with a new, more compact design and simplified controls. But it’s still an this overdrive/fuzz pedal for some serious walls of sound.
Beetronics Whoctahell Limited Beeast
Staying true to its roots, the Beetronics Whoctahell lets your axe sound like a broken 8-bit bass synthesizer. This pedal is not just an overdrive and a fuzz; it also combines two lower octaves (-1 and -2 octaves) that add a whole lot of punch and (literally) depth to your sound.
Unlike its predecessor, where you had to choose between the two octaves, the updated version lets you mix both octaves. That way, you’re much more flexible in creating the perfect balance of fuzz, buzz, and lo-fi-y 8-bit.
Controlling the Beeast
The Beetronics Whoctahell Limited Beeast seems pretty straightforward to use. Controls include a Drive/Fuzz volume knob that adjusts the overall fuzz and individual volume knobs for each octave. This allows for precise mixing.
Like on the Nectar and the Fatbee, Beetronics has put the three knobs on the upper housing, which gives it a very vintage, 60s-style vibe. This certainly helps avoid any accidental knob twists when hitting the foot switch.
But it does make it a bit hard to reach and fit in on crowded pedal boards. However, it’s also much smaller than the original version. Also, both the sound examples and the Whoctahell’s optics are killer. Plus, Beetronics has made it part of their budget-friendly ‘Baby series’. So, even if it is a limited run, it’s still an affordable octave fuzz.
How much does the Beetronics Whoctahell Limited Beeast cost?
The pedal is available here at Thomann* for the price of $167 / €189.00 / £159 and will be on stock shortly.
In total, only 300 units are available with 40 custom shop edition pedals and 20 limited edition units with different artworks. The custom shops pedals cost €241.95 (excluding taxes, shipping, and duties).
