Behringer JT-4000M Micro: The Pocket Synth Gets a MIDI Input
The new Behringer JT-4000M Micro is almost identical to the previous version of the popular mini synth, with one important difference: Unlike the predecessor, the JT-4000M has a MIDI input. The JT-4000M is now ready for pre-order!
Behringer JT-4000M Micro
The tiny JT-4000 Micro has a lot of fans. However, many were missing a key feature: until now, the pocket-sized hybrid synth didn’t have a MIDI input. The USB port was the only way to control the synth externally, which wasn’t ideal for DAWless setups. The second generation resolves this issue.
Despite the synth’s tiny footprint, Behringer has managed to squeeze an 1/8” TRS MIDI In jack onto the front panel. There wasn’t enough room for a 5-pin DIN connector, but the JT-4000M comes with an adapter.
The rest of the synth remains unchanged. Like the predecessor, the JT-4000M is a 4-voice paraphonic hybrid synth with two virtual-analog oscillators per voice. These are modeled after the classic Roland JP-8000, including the famous Supersaw waveform.
Unlike Roland’s VA classic, however, the JT-4000M has an analog filter. For modulation, there are two LFOs and ADSR envelopes each. While the pocket synth now offers MIDI, you can also control it via the built-in 16-key capacitive touch keyboard. An arpeggiator is also included.
The synth is powered over USB, meaning that you can also use a power bank or a compatible smartphone to power it.
Price and Availability
The Behringer JT-4000M is now ready for pre-order from Thomann*. It’s slightly more expensive than the version without MIDI, but the added flexibility easily makes up for the price difference.

BEST. SYNTH. EVER.
Centerpiece of my Handbag rig 👜
question. are the capacitive keys quatrophonically contact area proportionally sensitive?
do they give out polyphonic pressure MIDI signal?
or are they simply on/off switches?
