Behringer says the RD-9 is finally shipping
Almost 3 years since the original announcement that Behringer was building a TR-909 clone the long-awaited RD-9 Rhythm Designer is boxed up and ready to go.
All good things
It was “909 Day” 2018 when Behringer revealed their “RD-909” drum machine which later became the RD-9. It’s a clone of the classic Roland TR-909 drum machine and came hot on the heels of the announcement of the “RD-808” which became the RD-8. The RD-8 became available in the autumn of 2019 but there’s been no sign of the RD-9.
We did get an update in January this year and a new demo video to further frustrate the patiently waiting customers. This is undoubtedly a thrilling update for them.
In a Facebook post Behringer apologises for how long it’s taken and also points to COVID-19 and the challenges of the current global supply chain. They also thank their beta testers and say that they’ve developed a lot of new features for the RD-9 that we’re all going to enjoy.
We look forward to checking out all the details when they become available.
The RD-9 is shipping but we’ve no date on when preorders may open or when they will actually land in peoples hands – stay tuned.
