Thomann has put together a System 100 modular bundle that uses the Roland inspired dual modules to create a 2-voice system for just over £500. Could be the start into modular you’ve been waiting for.

System 100 Bundle

Behringer has released all the System 100 modules that were based upon the classic Roland modular system. They appeared one at a time over a long period and so they’ve never felt very integrated or part of a larger system. This can often leave potential customers wondering which modules to choose and how to go about putting a little system together. With this System 100 Bundle Thomann is making it easy for you by curating a single row of modules that offers a solid introduction to the Roland modular workflow.

Within the system you get the 112 Dual VCO, 130 Dual VCA, 121 Dual VCF and 140 Dual Envelope/LFO. The great thing about these “Dual” modules is that they very quickly and economically build to a pair of complete synthesizer voices. With just a small amount of synthesizer know-how, you can patch it together and start making sounds and noises.

For added modular-style weirdness they’ve also included the 150 Ring Mod/Noise/S&H/LFO which will start taking you beyond the regular synth noises and into new adventures.

It all comes in the Behringer 104HP case with a CP1A power module and there’s room for another module or two. I’d recommend maybe getting another 140 Dual Envelope as you can easily use an envelope on both the VCA and VCF for both oscillators. Or perhaps the 305 EQ/Mixer/Output module so you can plug some headphones in and really work the sound. You might also want to think about how you’re going to “play” it so maybe an Arturia KeyStep 37 or the 182 Sequencer would be useful.

It comes complete with a bunch of patch cables for £444 ex VAT. That’s a £26 saving on buying the parts individually which should at least cover the postage and customs fees.
