Best Gifts for Guitarists: Top 10 Guitar Gear Presents for Friends or Family
Top 10 Gifts for Guitar Players at Christmas
The year’s drawing to a close and friends and family of guitarists are wondering what to gift their dearest guitar gear addict. Or you may be a guitarist whose family are asking you what you’d like this year and you aren’t sure what ask for. We’ve scoured the internet for some suggestions, and come up with this list of ideas for great value presents that won’t break the bank, from a few quid to a full-on guitar recording solution.
dAndrea Guitar Care Kit Deluxe
The dAndrea Guitar Care Kit Deluxe is the perfect stocking filler for any guitar player and has all they need to keep their instruments in tip top condition. It includes polish, string cleaner, and fretboard oil, plus a handy cleaning cloth designed not to damage the guitar finish.
PRS Clip Tuner
Want to get a smile on the face of a guitarist friend or member of your family? Gift some official PRS gear! OK, so it’s not a Joe Walsh Limited Edition McCarty 594 – but that would set you back nearly 8 grand. This is a solid clip-on chromatic tuner by PRS for electric and acoustic guitars, bass and ukulele. It’s got a rubber clip to prevent slippage, four tuning modes, two needles and two strobe strips with .5 cent accuracy. A good clip-on tuner is a godsend.
Richter Suede Guitar Strap
Back in August, Asad wrote a great article about why guitarists should spend a bit more on a decent guitar strap. Not only do they look better, they’re much more comfortable to wear than the cheap kind. Crucially, they can help prevent shoulder and back pain. If the guitarist in your life is complaining about post-rehearsal aches, maybe a new strap is literally what the doctor ordered. This one’s made in Germany from suede.
NUX Mighty Plug Headphone Modelling Amp
This low-cost little gadget comes with a surprisingly big package of tones and even IRs, all geared toward practice and songwriting using a pair of headphones. Tones are edited via the accompanying app on a smartphone, and pressing the big button on the top cycles through the editable presets. It’s all pretty clever, actually. This is a smart little device to take on holiday, or to get in some casual practice on the sofa. And at this price, nothing comes close in terms of value for money.
Pedal Crush Book
This has been on my Christmas gift list before, but honestly if you know a guitarist that hasn’t got this book, then do them a favour and buy them a copy. I own it myself, and it’s not just an excellent read but also a great source of information. If the guitar player in your life is obsessed with little boxes covered in knobs and LED lights, then they will certainly adore this book!
Harley Benton DNAfx GiT
This compact and affordable Harley Benton DNAfx GiT offers myriad guitar amp and effect tones at a super price, making it a great value solution for rehearsals, practise, gigging and recording. Whether your loved one is new to guitar or a seasoned player, this compact box is chock-full of features, with more-than-decent sounds for modest outlay. You can read all about the unit here.
Harley Benton Dullahan-FT 24 Roasted IB
This is possibly the perfect travel guitar. It’s a headless Harley Benton Dullahan-FT 24 Roasted IB and while it’s easily portable it’s fully featured and includes some great specifications. These include stainless steel frets, a roasted Canadian flamed maple neck and a set of Roswell HAF-B-BK AlNiCo-5 pickups. I’d be very happy if one of these turned up under my Christmas tree.
Boss Katana 100 MKII
The Katana 100 MKII is the perfect all round guitar amplifier, and features built in effects to boot. With 100 watts of power and 5 classic amps, including Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brown and Acoustic plus the Boss Tone Studio sound customisation software with over 60 different Boss effects, channel and global EQs, and customisable routing, this compact amp is perfect for gigging guitar plays that require versatility. And it’s very keenly priced, too, given the abundance of good sounds on offer. It’s consistently rated highly by owners, which is always a good recommendation.
Whether you are a beginner, or a more seasoned player, this amp is the business. It will allow you to get your sound across to a live audience with no problem. A great gift for any guitar player.
Boss Waza Air Guitar Headphones
Another great product from Boss. These Waza Air Guitar Headphones are designed for the player that wants all the tone, but doesn’t require any volume. Perfect for practising and also rehearsing new songs! And because they’re compact you can take them with you when you are travelling.
They include all the great tones of the Katana amp series as well, plus this year they added a special version just for bass players, so you can get them specifically for the bassist in your life as well.

Perfect for the guitar player that needs an all-in-one recording solution for their Mac or PC, this IK Multimedia AXE I/O + AmpliTube 5 MAX bundle contains the perfect set of tones, paired with a guitar specific audio interface.
I think that having the dedicated AXE I/O audio interface, and the AmpliTube 5 MAX together is a great deal, and it means that you can create just about any guitar tone you will ever need, and it is perfect for any budding guitarist that wants to produce and record their own tracks.
