Infected Sounds is back with the B4ss Nation software synth. Contrary to what the name suggests, it does all sorts of aggressive sounds, not just bass. It’s got two oscillators, a multimode filter (including a vowel filter), two LFOs, a modulation sequencer, three envelopes, FM and AM and a bunch of effects. There’s also a fat unison mode with eight voices per oscillator for super punchy sounds. More than 128 presets are included.

B4ss Nation is a VST plug-in for Windows (32/64 bit).

Now for something completely different. VS Conga by Alan ViSTa is a percussion ROMpler that specializes in authentic conga sounds for latin music. It’s got three instruments (Conga, Quinto, Tumba), each of which were sampled with two different hit techniques, round-robin samples and up to four velocity layers. You can also adjust the gain and pan of each individual instrument. A nice tool for adding authentic conga grooves to your tracks in an instant!

VS Conga is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3 and AU formats.

This one’s been out for a while, but it’s pretty cool and if you’ve missed it, you should check it out. KranchDD is a wild combination of a variable-state resonant filter (LP/BP/HP), clipper and a bunch of experimental distortion algorithms. You can also dial in some feedback and modulation for even more sound mangling and creative effects, and there’s a mix knob to blend the dry and wet signals. Check out the video below, it produces some pretty interesting and dirty results.

KranchDD is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3 and AU formats.
