Beyerdynamic Pro X Series: New headphones and microphones for creators
Beyerdynamic has launched the new Pro X Series microphones and headphones for recording, monitoring, podcasting, streaming and any kind of content creation. The Pro X series comprises the M 70 Pro X and M 90 Pro X dynamic and condenser microphones and the DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X headphones.
Beyerdynamic Pro X Series
Beyerdynamic calls the new Pro X series the “home of the creators”. This goes to show that the company is aiming the new headphones and microphones not only at music producers, but also at the booming podcasting, streaming, and content creation markets. With two new mics and two headphones that give you a choice of dynamic or condenser and closed-back or open-back, the Pro X series caters to all your listening and recording needs – whether you’re recording voice-overs, podcasts or music.
Beyerdynamic M 70 Pro X
Let’s begin with the mics. The M 70 Pro X is a dynamic broadcast microphone with a cardioid polar pattern and speech-optimized sound characteristic for streaming and podcasting. The microphone offers an XLR connector. Beyerdynamic says that the capsule is internally fixed in position, in order to minimize mechanical vibration. Plosive sounds are efficiently attenuated by the integrated high-density foam and the included pop filter. The M 70 Pro X also comes with a shock mount.
- Transducer type: Dynamic
- Polar pattern: cardioid
- Frequency response: 25 Hz – 18 kHz
- Connection type: XLR
Beyerdynamic M 90 Pro X
The second new microphone, the M 90 Pro X, is a large diaphragm condenser microphone with a cardioid polar pattern designed for studio recording and speech applications. Beyerdynamic says that it offers a low noise floor and high SPL for a wide dynamic range and distortion-free recordings. If you record vocals and instruments in the studio, as well as the occasional voice-over, the M 90 Pro X could fit the bill. It comes with a shock mount, pop filter and carrying bag.
- Transducer type: Condenser
- Polar pattern: Cardioid
- Frequency response: 20 Hz – 20 kHz
- Connection type: XLR
Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X
The DT 700 Pro X studio headphones feature a closed-back design for recording and monitoring. Beyerdynamic claims that they combine high wearing comfort with good passive isolation. They’re built around the newly developed STELLAR.45 drivers with neodymium ring magnets and an impedance of 48 Ohms. According to Beyerdynamic, the new transducers offer a wide frequency range, fast response and detailed transient reproduction. The headphones come in a drawstring back with included 1.8 m and 3 m cables and a 1/4” adapter.
- Operating principle: Closed
- Nominal impedance: 48 Ω
- Frequency response: 5 Hz – 40 kHz
- Nominal SPL: 100 dB (1 mW / 500 Hz)
- Earpad material: Velours
- Weight: 350 g
Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X
Beyerdynamic has got some new open-back headphones, as well. The DT 900 Pro X also uses the STELLAR.45 drivers, but in an open-back, circumaural design for mixing, mastering and listening. Beyerdynamic says that the DT 900 Pro X offers a spacious and transparent acoustic characteristic and a differentiated acoustic stage for precise localization. This makes these headphones a good choice for mixing and critical listening applications. Like the DT 700 Pro X, the DT 900 Pro X comes with two cables, an adapter and a drawstring bag.
- Operating principle: Open
- Nominal impedance: 48 Ω
- Frequency response: 5 Hz – 40 kHz
- Nominal SPL: 100 dB (1 mW / 500 Hz)
- Earpad material: Velours
- Weight: 345 g
