Blackstar AIRWIRE i58: Wireless Freedom for Guitar and Bass
Blackstar AIRWIRE i58 delivers low-latency, high-resolution audio for guitar, bass, and more.
The Blackstar AIRWIRE i58 is a new, affordable wireless system for the guitar, bass, and more, making it easy to play live. It operates in the 5.8GHz range and has plenty of valuable features.
AIRWIRE i58
The Blackstar AIRWIRE i58 wireless system lets you wirelessly connect your guitar, bass, or other instrument with a standard 1/4″ output. It uses the 5.8GHz frequency band, which is less crowded than other bands so that it won’t be affected by Wi-Fi.
Blackstar states that you’ll get a great tone and feel with very low latency, like using a cable, but without the cable.
Cable Tone
Small and compact, the AIRWIRE i58 won’t get in your way. Up to four sets can be used simultaneously without any interference, which is perfect for bands.
Unlike using a long cable, it sends a high-quality signal with no treble loss. However, there’s a “CABLE TONE” switch to simulate the sound of a regular cable.
A full charge gives you 9 hours of playing time, and the receiver automatically shuts off after 10 minutes of no signal to save battery. With a range of 35 meters (about 115 feet), you can move freely on stage without losing your signal.
Verdict
I can’t complain at this price point, and it has all the standard features I would want from a simple wireless system. However, it may not suit everyone, as it can only be used with four units at once. It is an all-in-one unit, so it may not meet professional specifications.
However, it should be fine for most musicians’ most common uses. Its simplicity, ease of use, and compact form factor are what make it stand out.
