Blackstar Debut 100RH: MOSFET Preamp

The two debut 100 RH amp heads (the ‘H’ stands for head) include with Blackstar’s proprietary MOSFET preamp. They proved just how close you can get to a “tube-y” sound with MOSFET. Also included, as in almost all Blackstar amps: ISF.

The Infintite Shape Feature is a controller that allows you to continuously adjust the tonality of the amp between more British and more American. Blackstar defines the British sound as a clearer, less aggressive sound, while the US side offers a more powerful midrange and impactful bass.

An FX loop is also available. Combined with plenty of headroom in the clean channel, the Debut 100RH could be the ideal pedal platform. When the clean channel is active, an additional ‘Bright’ switch provides a gentle treble boost. This channel is inspired by the sound of Blackstar’s HT series. In comparison, the second channel’s overdrive is based on Blackstar’s St. James 6L6, which offers a very tube-like sound.

Footswitch and Silent Practice

The Debut 100RH’s optional footswitch allows you to switch between the two channels. Like the 50R, the amp also includes a reverb (switchable between plate and hall) and a three-band EQ (bass, mid, treble).

You’ve seen the power reduction feature on other Debut amps. At the touch of a button, the output power is reduced from 100 watts to neighbourhood-friendly 5 watts. The amp also comes with a headphone output (6.3mm jack) on the back, so you can practice in complete silence. There is also an additional line-in input (3.5mm mini jack) so you can connect your phone or other signals for backing tracks.

The speaker terminals are available in both 16 ohm and 8 ohm versions, although only one can be used at a time. The Debut 100R is available in cream* and black*. At Thomann, the top-of-the-range model costs €339.
