[21 December 2018] NanoStudio 2 from software company Blip Interactive is a completely redesigned DAW for the iPad. The app includes all the features of a full-fledged digital audio workstation, with additional sound generators and the usual effects. It comes with synthesizers, samplers and a drum pad sampler. A package that allows you to actually put your computer aside.
NanoStudio 2 is Compatible with AUv3
There are only a handful of iOS DAWs on the market that can truly replace a full-fledged digital studio. One of them is Steinberg’s Cubasis. With NanoStudio 2, another contender is about to enter the fray. That’s because the new and completely revised version of this iOS DAW can handle a similar range of tasks and, of course, turn your song ideas into sound.
There are also new sound generators, such as a multi-engine synthesizer that supports not only VA, but also FM and wavetable synthesis. A major highlight is the ability to finally integrate third-party plugins in AUv3 format with version 2. But also the interface is convincing. It is very clear and makes you want to start a song right away. The only drawback is the lack of audio clips, but these will be added by the developer in one of the next updates in 2019. Very nice!

Blip Interactive NanoStudio 2 is available at the Apple iTunes Store for $32.99. You can add sound packs for $6.99 or $7.99 via in-app purchases. The app runs on iOS 11.0 or later and is iPad compatible. It takes up 261.9 megabytes on your iDevice. You can export and share data via Dropbox, Audioshare, iTunes File Sharing, AirDrop, email, and the iOS File app. Back up your data using the built-in WebDAV server interface. Over 500 factory samples and 50 factory drum kits are included. You can also use third-party AUv3 plugins in the iOS DAW. Ableton Link lets you sync with other compatible applications and hardware.
