[February 13, 2025] With just 11 months under its belt, the original Katana:GO is already receiving a refresh. With the Katana Go 2, Boss is slightly tweaking the headphone amp’s design and adding functionality for content creation.

Katana Go 2: What’s new?
The most obvious visual change is the disappearance of the large knob for controlling effects or amp parameters. It looks like Boss is placing even more emphasis on its Tone Studio app for dialing in the sounds. Which, considering the size of the Katana Go 2, probably makes sense anyway. Still included: ten guitar amps and over 60 effects, including clean, crunch and the popular high-gain BOSS Brown type sound.
Three amps are included for bass players (vintage, modern and flat), and there are also 60 dedicated bass effects. As in the first iteration, you get 30 memory slots for presets. The Stage Feel function has also been retained, which is supposed to make playing with the Katano Go 2 feel more ‘on stage’. Another new feature seems to be that you can now import tone profiles directly from Katana amps, which brings the ecosystem of the popular practice amps closer together.
The Katana Go 2 now also functions as an audio interface when you connect it to your computer via USB-C. This way you can directly record guitar and bass with or without the included Boss effects in your DAW. With this functionality, the Katana Go 2 is also ideal for content creation for social media, because you can connect it directly to your smartphone or tablet and integrate the guitar signal into the stream.

Modes and Functions
The KATANA: GO comprises 10 amp types for electric guitar players and over 60 digital effects. So, you play bass too? Well, you’ll find the same 60 effects along with 3 bass amps. Each mode has 30 memory slots, meaning you’ll have plenty of sounds ready to use.
Display and Compatibility
You’ll have noticed a clear and crisp OLED display on the front of the headphone amp. Pretty and functional, this houses your memory locations and integrated tuner. Moreover, you can use Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone. Overall, allowing you to utilise the BOSS Tone Studio app for further tone adjustment.
KATANA: GO Immersive Live Sound
With this KATANA: GO, you get what Boss is calling their Stage Feel feature. Essentially, when playing with backing tracks via YouTube, you’ll be able to place the amp in different parts of a virtual room. Obviously, the quality of your headphones will decide how immersive that experience will be.
This little Katana in your pocket boasts an impressive 5-hour runtime thanks to a rechargeable battery. Furthermore, there’s the essential 3.5mm audio jack, allowing for headphone compatibility. Geared towards jamming and practising, you’ll be able to do both anywhere.
