Charvel has just announced a new signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 model for Everygrey’s Henrik Danhage. This model is the latest in their new 2020 lineup and looks, well roadworn.

Henrik Danhage Signature

The name of the Charvel’s new guitar is a bit of a mouthful: the Henrik Danhage Limited Edition Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1! It’s got an ash body with a heavily relic’d white paint job you’ll probably either love or hate. Henrik has been playing with the Swedish progressive heavy metal band Evergrey for nearly 20 years now – and he obviously knows what he wants.

Let’s have a look at the specs. This guitar has a 25.5” scale length, bolt-on relic’d maple neck with graphite-reinforcement rods. There’s the obligatory modern 12”-16” compound radius maple fingerboard with nice, comfy, rolled edges and 22 jumbo frets with a handy easy access heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel. The neck also has a reverse Fender Strat-style headstock to complete the look.

Seymour Duncan & DiMarzio loaded

The pickups are a Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 humbucker in the bridge and a DiMarzio Area 67 DP419CR single-coil neck pickup. These are wired via only a single volume knob with a push/push selector for switching between the bridge and neck pickups. I think that means you cannot have both pickups on at once. No tone control and no selector switch here, then. This model comes with a Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo bridge system and set of Charvel tuners.

Heavy Relic

An interesting guitar this, if you like relic instruments. I do quite like the pickup configuration as I have something similar on one of my own guitars. But it won’t be for everyone. Even if you like the spec list on paper, you really need to love heavily relic’d guitars or be a big Evergrey fan for this to really appeal to you. But I actually quite like it!

RRP – USD 1599.99

Hey relic’d lovers- Nordstrom’s sells a $425 pair of jeans pre-caked in dirt. You only have to get up off your distressed leather couch long enough to slip on the pants and, presto, you’ll look like someone who has actually done something.
