Charvel Pro-Mod Style 1 – Four new models coming
Four new Pro-Mod Style 1 are coming this autumn
Four new Charvel Pro-Mod Style 1 models have been revealed. Each with its own distinct look and feature set. This classic Super Strat design gets a few modern-day updates making them perfect for the guitarists of today.
Pro-Mod Style 1
The Charvel Pro-Mod Style 1 is an already well-specified guitar, with an emphasis on the Super Strat styling and high-performance playability. Across the whole range, you will see those great Charvel necks. These normally feature variations of the well-loved and popular graphite-reinforced bolt-on maple neck. They all have a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel and a 12”-16” compound fretboard fitted with 22 jumbo frets.
Elsewhere there are variations on body styling and tonewoods, plus a few different pickup options across the four new models.
Pro-Mod DK22 SSS 2PT CM Mahogany with Walnut
This Pro-Mod DK22 SSS as the name suggests features three single-coil-sized pickups and comes with a two-point trem system. With a mahogany body and walnut top, the finish looks very classy, especially as it has gold hardware throughout matched with black plastics.
Shredder’s Cut
The Gotoh Custom 510 tremolo and a Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut should give you rock-solid tuning stability, especially as they are paired with a set of Charvel’s locking tuners. Another noticeable feature is the Shredder’s Cut heel with its sculpted-out rear for better higher fret access. Plus, a set of Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots and a roasted maple fretboard with Pearloid dot fret markers.
Duncan Loaded
Pickups for this model are a set of Seymour Duncan, with a Custom Hot Rails Strat SHR-1B in the bridge position that is paired with two SSL6 single-coil models in the middle and neck positions.
Great looking guitar and will no doubt have its fans with these looks and specifications.
MSRP – USD 1399.99 *
Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSH FR M
Next up is this Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSH FR M in a Cherry Kiss Burst finish. With pretty traditional specifications for a So-Cal, this model has a Floyd Rose 1000 Series locking trem system. Along with an HSH pickup layout that consists of the Distortion TB-6 humbucker in the bridge, a Flat Strat SSL-6 single-coil in the middle plus a Distortion SH-6N humbucker in the neck.
Cherry Kiss Burst
Essentially, this model is a new colour for 2022 and has some almost traditional Fender Strat-like aesthetics. But, it will no doubt be an absolute beast of a guitar. This one is due out in October 2022 and gives you the same specs as last year’s Platinum Pink * and Slime Green * models, just with a more reserved, almost grown-up look.
MSRP – USD 1099.99 *
Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR E Ash
This Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR E Ash in a Sunburn finish is sure to divide opinions. It is a very strong look and one that will no doubt have people who either adore it or hate it. It is not my cup of tea, but the specifications are very nice. Essentially, it is the same as the Neon Pink model from 2020, just with a slightly subdued take on the colour choice.
Red & Yellow
This model features a charred ash body and has an ebony fretboard. Now factor in all that black hardware and it is a very dark aesthetic overall, but with those red and yellow accents. These accents are provided by the graduation in the paint job and a pair of Seymour Duncan pickups. A red Super Distortion DP100 in the bridge, and a yellow PAF Pro DP151 in the neck position.
Again you have the Floyd Rose 1000 trem, plus all the usual great Charvel hardware and styling.
Limited Edition Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR M
Finally, we have this very sparkly new Limited Edition Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR M in a Sin City Sparkle finish. It certainly stands out from the crowd and you will like the Sunburn model above, either love it or hate it.
Sin City Sparkle
This one is fitted with a set of Seymour Duncan humbuckers with a JB in the bridge and a ’59 in the neck. The alder body and maple neck are a proven combination for tone. And the Floyd Rose locking trem will be a lot of fun to use. I think it might have looked even better with an ebony fretboard though.
As with all the other models in this release expect to see this one sometime in October 2022.
