Chase Bliss Mystery Box: Dirt Bird for US, Sale for EU
Some benefits for the US, some for the rest of the world!
They’re always doing things a bit differently over at Chase Bliss Audio. This time, Joel and friends present the Chase Bliss Mystery Box. Buy one, get one of CBA’s pedals. But the surprise Pedal is US-only. On the other hand, Mood MKII, Onward, and all the other effects are heavily discounted, especially in Europe!
US Only
The general idea of a company offering a mystery box is that you buy one without knowing what you’re getting from their product line. It could be a lucky draw, and a rare item could be in it. It could also be very mundane. But CBA seems to be trying hard not to disappoint customers, both in the US and elsewhere in the world.
Because many fans of CBA around the world were rather unhappy when the pedal maker announced their Billy Strings Wombtone Phaser in August with the addition that it would only be available in the US. Not only that, but they would also discontinue selling Condor MKI, Thermae, Dark World, Warped Vinyl HiFi, and Preamp MkII in the EU and the UK, effective immediately.
This was due to a set of new safety regulations banning the use of a substance called cadmium sulfide in any component, and one component in the mentioned pedals, LDR, has that. With the Chase Bliss Mystery Box, they are trying two things at a time: please EU customers, but also release another limited edition pedal only in the US.
Chase Bliss Mystery Box: What’s the deal?
A Chase Bliss Mystery Box costs 299 dollars or euros. For the US, one of these items could be in a mystery box:
- Golden Pin: Only five pins exist, and finding one will get you every new CBA pedal in the future (excluding limited editions)
- Dirt Bird: A modified version of CBA’s overdrive pedal Condor, only 250 available
- 11 hand-painted pedals, with paintings from artist Hannah Haugberg
- Rare and Discontinued: Thermae, Gravitas, Brothers – anyone? If CBA had any of these older pedals in stock, you might get one in the Chase Bliss Mystery Box.
- Additional Pedals from other companies: Wren & Cuff, Old Blood Noise Endeavors, or Benson, but these will be added to Mystery Boxes already containing a CBA pedal
- ODDS & ENDS: These might be one-of-a-kind modified versions of any CBA pedal
- Any current CBA pedal and Merch
Most importantly, there is a no-returns policy for the Chase Bliss Mystery Box in the US. Also, the golden pins cannot be sold; they can only be used by the original recipient.
While the rules are similar for the Mystery Box in the EU, there are some key differences.
- No Dirt Bird
- If CBA is emptying their stock of older pedals, only those without the LDR component mentioned above component will be available.
- 14-day return policy.
The Chase Bliss Mystery Box order window closes on December 2, 11:59 PM CST. Due to the high demand, orders made from today on can only be shipped after January 1, 2025.
Chase Bliss Mega Sale: Lowest prices for the EU ever!
While it might be disappointing for some EU pedal heads not to get the Dird Bird or most of the other older CBA pedals, there is also some very, very good news. Chase Bliss is waiving not only shipping but also the customs fee (which they usually include in the price) and is adding an additional 15 percent discount to most pedals of their current line-up.
That means that the likes of Onward, Mood MKII or Lossy are currently available for no more than 340 euros. I’ve not seem these pedals this cheap ever! It is worth noting, however, that their latest pedal Clean, is excluded from this promotion.
