Chase Bliss Onward: Dynamic Sampler pedal
The Chase Bliss Onward is a “dynamic sampling device” with a high glitch factor. In addition, the pedal carries the torch of the legendary Cooper FX Outward.
Chase Bliss Onward
Chase Bliss Onward takes an old Cooper FX design and pushes it further. The CooperFX Outward is considered one of the most unusual glitch and looping pedals. Now, Chase Bliss has teamed up with the creator of the original, which is very similar to Reverse Mode C—in this case, Tom Majeski from CooperFX.

Dynamic Sampling
The primary function of Chase Bliss Outward could also be called a Glitch Looper with Enveloper Follower. On the one hand, there is a looper with a maximum of one second of memory.
This repeats the audio signal. For this purpose, the error parameter twists the glitch memory in three ways. The signal then stumbles, is pitched, and is played backward.

Envelope Follower
How does the glitch memory “know” when to jump to the next chord or note if the Chase Bliss Onward has no looping function?
This is where the Envelope Follower comes into play. Through this, the memory automatically records and overwrites when the input signal has exceeded a specific volume—i.e., dynamically.
Luckily, the demo videos do a great job of showing what the pedal can achieve.
Freeze and more
In the demo video, it is clear that you can send one chord after another into the pedal without any programming.
Onward automatically chops up the new signal. The pedal seems an excellent playground for glitch effects for field recordings, vocals, or drums.
Also included is a parallel (or, if desired, in series) freeze effect running. In addition, an octave (one octave above and one below) and one distorter (half overdrive, half bit-crusher) are integrated for the wet signal.
Freeze mode creates smooth, atmospheric textures, while the Glitch mode delivers more rhythmic and percussive effects.
