Cherry Audio asks: What’s your dream synth?
In a new 30 second teaser, Cherry Audio is posing a question about dream synthesizers while suggesting that it has one right up its sleeve ready to reveal next week.
Dream Synth?
This could be something new and different from Cherry Audio. Rather than another interesting emulation of a synth from times gone by this could be a new development based on what Cherry Audio believe would inspire the dreams of the synth player. Actually, in the credits at the end of the teaser it says “Cherry Audio presents an original synthesizer creation”, so there you are.

As for what we can glean from the video it looks quite expansive. Possibly three oscillators, definitely polyphonic, there seems to be a dual Wave selection box which would suggest morphable wavetables. In one part we glimpse a section called “Strings” which could give it an analogue string vibe. The voices in the background ask for the “fattest vintage analogue with the clarity of classic digital” and that they should be “able to play everything with it”. So, it’s an everything synth? There’s a definite lo-fi feel to the video and what we’ve seen suggests a hybrid mix of wavetable and analogue architecture – very interesting.
Cherry Audio has been doing great work with their line of synthesizers and so I’m excited to know what they’re going to come up with that will hit all of the features of a proposed Dream Synth.

What’s your dream synth? If Cherry Audio are looking for ideas, a fair few people might say Access Virus, or Moog One, along with all the usual suspects, Jup8, Prophet V etc. It might sound a bit nutty, but why don’t Cherry Audio make a good old-fashioned Microkorg emulation that can hold 1000 presets and can transfer patches from the device itself? If they made one that could multiple instances, with any skin, it’d be sure to sell well as people are so familiar with it.
Or, not made yet, ttbomk
Yamaha SY85 with 8 track seq
Novation Ultranova emulator
Volca Beats with snare adjust
Supernova emulator
Any 70/80s organ drum synth
Any modern groovebox
A decent Duane Eddy/Shadows twang guitar emulator
A Revox 4/8 track tape with bounce
Come on Cherry Audio, use your imagination, don’t be asking us, we’re just the f****ng peasants!
